The Feywild Paddle
This impact paddle was an experimental project for me, and ended up being so much fun to make! Although there are definitely things I’ll do differently to improve on future iterations (stay tuned!), I do love a lot of things about how this piece turned out. This paddle has a flexible wooden core, and the handle is wrapped in a layer of thick veg-tanned leather for durability, then wrapped again in thin, soft hide for a comfortable grip. The 2” heavy-duty antiqued brass ring on the handle base serves as a kind of pommel, and really gives the whole thing the feel of holding a weapon. The paddle itself is multiple layers of heavy veg-tanned leather, and is finished with decorative panels featuring carved images meant to invoke a wild, untamed spirit of natural power and raw sexuality.
