Site Under Construction / New Directions
I’m in the process of completely rebuilding this site, so it’s gonna be kinda janky for a while. I don’t have a lot of time to devote to that project (hence the nearly year-long neglect of this space), so it might take me a while. However, I’ve deemed it necessary since the current layout no longer really reflects my goals for Mobius Leatherworks.
Which brings me to the state of Mobius Leatherworks as a whole. The truth is, I’ve been kind of floundering for a while. Ever since the local markets where I did most of my business went on hiatus, I’ve had essentially zero income. With no funding for supplies and materials, and drastically reduced time and energy to craft due to having to put in more hours at the day job, Mobius Leatherworks has pretty much functionally ceased to exist. Beyond that, I’ve also been feeling very creatively stagnant with the type of work that I had been producing for a long time. Pressure to keep stock up on kink/fetishwear basics like simple collars and the like for markets and the online shop was preventing me from working on anything new that would allow me to progress in my skills or grow creatively. And although I do love the kink community and its whole aesthetic, I’ve been longing to branch out and explore the aesthetics and themes that originally inspired my journey into leatherwork.
So I’ve made the decision to allow myself to focus more on different directions. I will likely still make kink related pieces, but that will no longer be my primary theme. I expect to create more fantasy/historical inspired work. Much of it will be gear and accessories unrelated to kink - think belts, bags, armor-like pieces, quivers, etc. I do also very much look forward to the idea of blending these two genres even more, and leaning into the idea of ‘Fantasy kink’.
Things are likely to continue moving pretty slowly for a while here as I adjust to this transition, and continue to deal with the lack of time and funds, but to anyone reading this - I really appreciate the continued attention and support. Thank you for sticking with me on this journey.
For the time being, make sure to follow me on Instagram, and I’ll let everyone know when the site here is back in action.
About Möbius Leatherworks
Creator of fine handcrafted leather accessories, fetishwear, and fashion.
My name is Matthew Möbius, and I run the Möbius Leatherworks Studio out of Portland, Oregon.
Inspiration for my leather craft comes largely from genre based literature and media. Fantasy, science fiction, horror, anime, TTRPGs; these are the spaces that inform my overall aesthetic. Often, this influence is distilled into simple, clean, minimalist designs - and occasionally manifests in more literal interpretations. I'm currently working on expanding into historical and fantasy-inspired gear & costume pieces, and hope to integrate more of that variety into the shop in the future.
